Roaring Mountain Thermal Area - Yellowstone National Park
Roaring Mountain is located on the west side of Yellowstone on the grand loop road north of the Norris Geyser Basin Area and just north of North Twin Lake.
The GPS location is: 44° 46' 51.83" N / 110° 44' 26.86" W.
It is not known who named Roaring Mountain. It is known that it was named by the early explores because of it's roaring thermal activity at the time. It is not as active as it use to be. Roaring Mountain's thermal activity is much more apparent in cooler weather such as early spring, late fall and winter. At these times all of the steam vents can be seen and enjoyed and if the area is not too crowded, you can hear the quiet roar of the mountain.
